How CBD Isolate Is Made and How to Use It
CBD isolate is the pure, unrefined crystalline form of CBD (or cannabinol) that is extracted from the Cannabis plant. It contains 0% Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), making it ideal for people who want to experience the benefits of Cannabis without the high. We at Upstate Elevator Supply Co. know that different terminologies can often be confusing when it comes to Cannabis products, so we wanted to provide this guide to help break things down so that you can understand what exactly CBD isolate is, how it’s used, and why we use it in some of our products.
How CBD Isolate Is Made
The industrial hemp plant undergoes different processes to obtain different types of CBD extractions, which can include lipid-based infusions (found, for example in our full-spectrum CBD capsules), solvent-extractions, and CBD isolate. Different extraction methods can result in products that contain a variety of compounds, such as terpenes and other cannabinoids, which can be beneficial depending on the effect you’re seeking.
In chemistry terms, isolate means the purest form of a substance (i.e., it is “isolated” from other compounds, hence the name). The extraction process for CBD isolate is complex and rigorous and requires specialized equipment, including chromatography equipment like C02 extraction systems, high pressure liquid chromatography equipment and CBD crystallization equipment. Chromatography is used to distill and refine pure CBD oil from full-spectrum hemp oil to remove contaminants and other compounds, such as THC. The CBD then undergoes a purification and crystallization process using strong solvents; the final product is a crystalline powder that may resemble powdered sugar, known as CBD isolate.
CBD Isolate Benefits
Unlike full-spectrum CBD products, which can legally contain up to 0.3% THC, our CBD isolate products are guaranteed to contain non-detectable levels of THC on a drug test. If you’re a somewhat nervous first-time user of CBD products, you might feel more comfortable using CBD isolate because you won’t get high and you’ll pass a drug test. CBD isolate also has a less herbaceous aroma and flavor profile, which can be beneficial for people who prefer a less noticeable taste when choosing an edible product.
Why Quality Is Crucial
We at UESC are transparent about our manufacturing process so you know exactly what you’re getting when you choose one of our products. We obtain our sustainably sourced hemp from trusted partners in Colorado and our home state of Vermont who meet the highest standards for clean Cannabis production. Remember that it’s important to choose a high-quality product from a reputable company to ensure that you are getting exactly what you’re expecting—a THC-free product that provides all of the benefits of CBD isolate.
To be safe, it’s a good idea to ask to see a certificate of analysis (CoA), conducted by an independent testing company to screen for contaminants and analyze the contents of the product.
How to Use CBD Isolate
The most common way to use CBD isolate is in an edible product or a tincture. If you’re interested in trying one of our high-quality organic CBD isolate products, we recommend our Mixed Fruit CBD gummies, our THC-free CBD tinctures, which you can use by just squeezing a few drops into your favorite beverage, or our THC-free CBD capsules. Experimenting with the dose is important. There is 0% THC, so there is no risk of feeling psychoactive effects even at high doses. CBD Gummies are a convenient way to stack your dose throughout the day, for example, using one 10mg gummy bear for a little support, or five for a really rough day.
Keep in Mind
CBD is generally considered to be safe for use in adults. However, if you have any concerns or medical issues, you may wish to talk to your doctor before using CBD products.
