About the Vermont Retail Grocers Association
VRGA creates a unified voice for its engaged membership to influence legislation through lawmaker and public education. Their membership is made up of a diverse and collaborative collection of business types and models. Members, policy-makers, community leaders, and valued stakeholders recognize the association’s critical role in shaping legislation, improving our communities, and contributing to each member’s success and the state’s economic vitality.
The Vermont Alliance of Independent Country Stores works to promote and provide resources for Independent Grocers and Country Stores throughout Vermont. Started in 2001 with the support of the VRGA, their work is essential to keeping Country Stores open. 15-20 years ago Vermont had 250 Country Stores across the state; in 2022 the Vermont Retail & Grocers Association counted just 95. For many Vermonters, Country Stores aren’t just places to buy groceries or get gas. They are hubs for connection, collaboration, and community.
